This is a blog about cooking on a woodburning cookstove. Here you will find recipes, methods, other uses, and miscellaneous information about using a woodburning range. I've searched the net for any and all information about cooking on one of these amazing appliances, and I've found a lot of interesting things, but none of them have been what I've been looking for. My wife Nancy and I are the fourth generation of my family to live on our Iowa farm. I am a Christian, a hobby farmer, a former English teacher, and freelance writer/editor. I've always been interested in cooking on a woodburning range. My great-great aunt Meme used to tell me about her experiences with a woodburning range as we played with the toy stove that she and her sister had been given in the early 1900s. I've been cooking over wood since 1997 when I purchased a Qualified Range from Lehman Hardware. In 2009, we put up a summer kitchen to house our 1920s green and cream Riverside Bakewell, and in March 2012 we replaced the Qualified with a Margin Gem cookstove.
